- INFORMATION For anyone interested in volunteering or already a volunteer, they can find information about the volunteering opportunities available by: - calling in at the Volunteer Centre (Map of the Volunteer Centre) - making an appointment with Volunteer Centre staff
- using the Do-It website (www.do-it.org.uk) and applying on-line - making an application by phone if it is not possible to visit the Centre.
- VOLUNTEER NEWS By registering with the Volunteer Centre volunteers or potential volunteers can receive our free bi-monthly newsletter which has information on the latest opportunities, training for volunteers, details of events for volunteers and 'stories' from actual volunteers about their experiences and what they have got from volunteering.
- HOW WE WORK The Volunteer Centre acts as a broker between those who wish to volunteer and those organisations looking for volunteers. Once a volunteer has identified their prefered opportunities we will pass on contact details to the appropriate organisations who then contact individuals directly. We help those looking for volunteer opportunities to identify roles that will be appropriate for their interests, skills and objectives, whether this be to make new friends, get experience or just give something back to their community.
- SUPPORT The Volunteer Centre organises training and other events for volunteers, we also offer a confidential service to help those who volunteer with any problems or issues they may have with organisations they volunteer with and other bodies (which may include the Job Centre) regaring rules and regulations relating to volunteering and benefits.
- VOLUNTEERING and BENEFITS Generally, being a volunteer should not lead to a reduction in any benefits a volunteer may be receiving. Experienced staff at the Centre are very happy to answer any questions relating to benefits, and to do so in confidence.
