| What is a Community of Interest? |
Durham and Chester-le-Street Community of Interest (COI) is a support and information network open to any voluntary or community group working with children and young people.
- To bring VCS organisations together to improve services for children, young people and families
- To ensure that the VCS are involved in, can influence and are recognised within the Children’s Trust Arrangements
- To support organisations to become commission ready
- To develop skills through access to training and development
- To promote the involvement of children, young people and their families within decision making processes
| What will the COI offer Durham and Chester-le-Street VCS in the next 6 months? |
- Option to attend 6-weekly meetings: opportunity to meet other VCS groups, work in partnership, express concerns, share success and understand the Children’s Trust Arrangements
- Regular newsletters containing information about training opportunities, funding, events for young people, up-to-date information from Durham and Chester-le-Street Local Children’s Board
- Supporting organisations to be commission ready: free training around commissioning, support around HOW to evidence that the work of the organisation is/can contribute to the 5 ECM outcomes and improve the lives of children, young people and their families
- Ensuring that VCS groups, no matter how large or small are involved in and are recognised within the decision making structures in Durham and Chester-le-Street. The COI has 2 seats at the Local Children’s Board, where key decisions around services for children and young people are made
