Membership

Membership of Chester-le-Street & District CVS and Volunteer Bureau is free to Voluntary and Community organisations working for the benefit of Chester-le-Street District. Members in this category have full voting rights, and individuals from the member organisation are eligible to stand for election as a trustee of the CVS and Volunteer Bureau. Services that you will receive as a member include

  • Quarterly newsletter (CVS News) – pdf version only
  • All Volunteer Bureau services except CRB checks
  • Capacity building support to groups working with children, young people and their families, from our Every Child Matters Participation and Engagement Worker. This post is funded until September 2011.
  • 3 hours per annum of Capacity Building support from our Senior Development Worker.

Capacity Building includes; governing documents, registration with companies house and/or charity commission, policies and procedures, funding advice including trading, tendering and tax effective fundraising, monitoring, evaluation and outcomes. 

Membership Plus

Members can pay a fee to receive a range of extra and discounted services. Thus;

Associate Membership

          Associate members are welcome to attend general meetings of the CVS and Volunteer Bureau, they have no nomination or voting rights.

Associate members receive only a limited number of services;

  • Newsletter (CVS News)
  • CRB checks
  • Recruitment of Volunteers (Statutory Sector only)
Statutory Sector (Associate Members)

Fee; £75

CRB checks;          £60 paid staff,   £12 volunteers.

From July 2011;     £66 paid staff   £15 volunteers 

Commercial Sector (Associate Members)

Fee; £100

CRB checks;              £65 paid staff  

From July 2011:          £70 paid staff

 

Statutory Stakeholders

Statutory bodies who operate for the benefit of the district and who have an interest in the work of both the CVS and Volunteer Bureau and the wider voluntary and community sector. 

Commercial Organisations

For those companies in the private sector, working for the benefit of the district who support the work of the organisation and the districts voluntary and community sector. Statutory and commercial organisations are welcome to attend the general meetings of the CVS and Volunteer Bureau but have no nomination or voting rights. 

How do we become a member?

Simply complete an application form and return it to the CVS & Volunteer Bureau. Subject to approval by the Executive Committee your groups named representative will then receive a membership card.
The named representative will receive regular mailings (including CVS News) as well as being the responsible person for official activities such as nominating and voting at the CVS & Volunteer Bureau elections.

Your rights as a member of Chester-le-Street & District CVS & Volunteer Bureau:
  • Membership of CVS and Volunteer Bureau is free although voluntary donations are welcome.
  • Membership of the CVS and Volunteer Bureau offers automatic membership of OVN.
